Istria à la Jules Verne

The first part of the novel "Mathias Sandorf" written by Jules Verne is located in Istria (Croatia). Our program follows the events of this part of the novel. You will see the locations described by Jules Verne, an excellent opportunity to admire their beauty. The duration of the program is 6 days with 5 overnights. We can offer the same program in a weekend basis, 3 days with 2 overnights.

“Mathias Sandorf met two of his friends in Trieste. They were planning the independence of Hungary, part of the Austroungarian empire. However, they have been discovered and captured by the Austrian police. Austrians transported them by coach in prison to Pazin in Istria, judged and condamned them. The three friends tried to escape, Mathias Sandorf and one of his friends managed to get an underground river that lead them to the Lim channel. Out of the water they walked to Rovinj …

Description of the program:

Day one: Arrival in Poreč and accommodation

Day two: Excursion following the arrival of Mathias Sandorf in Istria, travel from the north eat of Istria to Pazin, destination the Kaštel of Pazin

Day three: Excursion to Pazin. In this town, every year are organised „The Jules Verne days“. Visit of the town and after follows the visit of the castle in Pazin. In the castle were arrested and condamned the protagonists of the novel. They reached to escape. We will describe all the facts. Return to Poreč.

Day Four: Day off. We offer optional activities or excursions.

Day five: Excursion to the Lim channel. It is the place where Mathias Sandorf came out from the river after the escape from the prison. Later, visit of Rovinj. We will describe the events on the novel in Rovinj, finished by the disappearance of Mathias Sandorf.

Day six: Departure. Possibility of an optional excursion on request.

The program is organised for a minimum of 1 person (50% supplement has to be paid for only 1 person). The duration of the program is 6 days, 5 overnights. The accommodation is in 3* or 4* hotels in Poreč, with the service of half board or in private accommodation. The program can be changed based on special wishes of the guests.
